Lucas Torreira informs Arsenal of summer transfer wish as AC Milan keen on move

Lucas Torreira is set to consider his Arsenal future should offers come in for his services in January or the summer.

The dynamic midfielder has been a shining light in what has been another difficult season for Gunners fans, but he could be plying his trade in another country in just a few months’ time.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the 23-year-old has pleaded with Arsenal chiefs to carefully consider enquiries about his services.

AC Milan are said to be at the top of the list of potential suitors, as they look to bolster their chances of securing Champions League qualification, and will also consider taking Granit Xhaka if Torreira isn’t available.

Despite starting against both Wolves and Leicester, Torreira has been subbed off on both occasions.

The Uruguay international has been frustrated at his lack of game time during periods under Unai Emery, as he recently outed.

He said: “I don’t know whether I’d say it’s frustrating.

“All players want to play, they obviously want to be in the starting XI – that’s completely normal.

“But that’s not something that depends on me.

“It’s down to the coach to make those decisions and really I have to respect that.

“Right now it’s about not giving up.

“You have to continue working hard and whether I’m playing in the starting XI or from the bench I want to give my all for the team.

“That’s the kind of player I am.

“I like to give 100 per cent for the shirt to help my teammates and to give the fans something to cheer about.”

Torreira will be hoping to play the full 90 minutes in Uruguay’s upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Argentina, and he could take his international appearance tally up to 23 caps for his country.
