Lucas Moura sends Arsenal new boy David Luiz a message before north London derby

Tottenham forward Lucas Moura is delighted that David Luiz has signed for north London rivals Arsenal – but says he’ll put their friendship to one side when the rivals clash on Sunday.

Luiz made a shock deadline-day switch this month when he opted to quit Chelsea for a £8million move to Arsenal.

The Brazilian defender has been thrown straight into the line-up by starting the last two games – the 2-1 defeat of Burnley and the 3-1 loss at Liverpool – and next up for the centre-back is a mouthwatering north London derby at the Emirates.

Moura is pleased that his compatriot has moved to north London because they can spend more time together, and believes he will come good despite his mistake-prone start to his Gunners career.

“David is a very experienced player and knows how to go through this situation. He will be stronger very soon,” Moura told Standard Sport .

“I am happy for him because it was a good transfer for him to make. I am also happy because he is closer to me now.

“He can come visit me at my home easier because when he was at Chelsea, he was so far away!”

While Moura, 27, will look to hang out with his Brazil team-mate, he will first focus his attention on helping Spurs overcame their fierce rivals this weekend.

“On Sunday he will be my opponent, I will work and do the best for my team to get three points. On the pitch (out relationship) is different,” he added.

“It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, I need to do my best and try to win.”
