Loyal dog dies 15 minutes after owner loses battle with cancer

A man’s loyal dog died within minutes of his owner losing a lengthy battle with cancer.

Stuart Hutchison (25), from Alloa in Scotland, spent eight years battling brain cancer, Mirror UK reports.

Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation hadn’t helped Stuart and sadly, the cancer eventually spread to his bones.

The young man spent his final days at home with his wife, Danielle, and family and died on August 11, news.com.au reports. His beloved dog Nero died just 15 minutes later.

Danielle’s dad visited the family home on the day of Stuart’s death. He noticed that the couple’s French bulldog had become sick, People reports.

Danielle’s dad rushed the dog to an emergency vet, where they discovered that he had a ruptured spine. Nero died just minutes after Stuart did.

“He had three dogs, but he and Nero were like one man and his dog,” Stuart’s mom, Fiona Conaghan, says. “Nero was the dog which was always with him.”

Though Stuart’s death was expected, it was still a shock when it happened, Fiona says. Nero’s death made the situation even sadder.

“Danielle was heart-broken to have lost both of them, but she’s been so strong,” Fiona says.
