The stars of Love Island’s winter version won’t just risk a broken heart in the villa – apparently they’ll also have to battle poisonous spiders, crocodiles and snakes.

Sounds like a real recipe for romance, doesn’t it?

Sources claimed the series, which will be filmed in Cape Town, South Africa early next year, could feature cameos from black mambas, scorpions and even – brilliant – big cats.

Kind of makes you think this year’s lot were overreacting a tiny bit when a fly whizzed over their heads, doesn’t it?

Apparently, there’s such a genuine threat that wildlife experts will be on standby to help look out for any deadly creatures.

And don’t even think about an impromptu dip in the pool – housemates will reportedly be told to check that there’s nothing lurking in the water before diving in.

‘Health and safety experts will be specially drafted in to help look out for deadly snakes and other poisonous creepy-crawlies,’ a source told The Sun.

‘There will be a specialist medic on hand, too, so contestants can get urgent medical attention. Plus, if necessary, facilities to chopper them to a local hospital.

‘This is a very different kettle of fish to filming in mainland Europe.’

The insider claimed contestants should also look out for scorpions and spiders that could be hiding in their shoes – a bite won’t kill them but it will put them in hospital.

Oh hey ho, all the best love stories start out in A&E anyway, don’t they?

Killing the mood even more are tips to wear long clothing, use protective sprays and check beds and cloths before getting dressed.

A ITV spokesman said: ‘As with all of our productions, the health and safety of both our cast and crew is our number one priority.’

So if you fancy fighting off spiders in a luxury villa, there’s still time to apply – and apparently it helps if you’re a twin, identify as a ‘goth girl’ or are from Essex.
