Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips has admitted that living in the show’s villa has ‘prepared her for prison’.

The reality star had taken to her Instagram story to answer fan questions as she self isolates at home, with one fan asking if Love Island had ‘prepared her for quarantine’.

‘I don’t know about quarantine but I feel like Love Island has prepared me for prison – I feel like I have done four months of hard time!’ she said. ‘This is just what I am used to now.’

Shaughna later admitted that life after taking part in the dating show has been ‘weird’, but she is ‘appreciating’ her time in lockdown.

‘Life after Love Island was weird,’ she continued. ‘Nothing can ever prepare you for it so I’m actually really appreciating lockdown.

‘I feel like once I’m back out into the real world, I will have a clear head on my shoulders.

‘Love Island was a lot harder than I ever thought it could be, but I enjoyed it.’

She also revealed that she was required to wear heels in the villa (Picture: ITV/Rex)

The 25-year-old also revealed that the girls in the villa all had to wear heels – so we can only imagine how sore her feet must have felt after a while.

As she nodded in response to a fan asking if wearing heels was a requirement, she also wrote: ‘This is not my impressed face. My least favourite part was having to get ready every night.’

It comes after Shaughna previously revealed that she was ‘convinced’ she had coronavirus during her time in the villa in South Africa.

What does self-isolation mean?

Self-isolation means staying indoors and avoiding all contact with other people for 14 days, according to the NHS.

It means no going to work, school, the shops or even to the park for some fresh air, in order to minimise the risk of passing on Covid-19.

Public transport and taxis are a no-no and you shouldn’t have visitors over, even if you just stay at home.

Anyone in self-isolation is advised to ask friends, family and delivery drivers to pick things up for you and drop them-off. You should put a sign outside telling people you are self-isolating and everything should be left on the floor outside your front door to avoid the risk of further infections.

Those who are self-isolating are still advised to stay away from their pets as much as possible and to wash their hands before and after touching them.

If you live in a house share and have to self-isolate, the advice is to stay in your room with the door closed and only emerge to use communal kitchens, bathrooms and living areas if absolutely necessary.

Who should self-isolate?

The government advises anyone returning from Category 1 areas (Hubei, Iran, Italy and Daegu or Cheongdo in South Korea), to go straight home and self-isolate, even if they don’t display any symptoms.

Travellers should use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next.

Anyone returning from Category 2 areas should self-isolate and call 111 if they have Covid-19 symptoms. You can find the list of those places here.

She told fans that she had breathing problems while appearing on the show, in a post shared to her Instagram story.

‘Thinking about it, I’m convinced I had the rona [coronavirus] in the Love Island villa,’ she wrote.

‘I was ILLLLLLLLLL! Couldn’t breathe laying down and all that s**t.’

She added: ‘@kittyure back me up pls and thnx,’ as she asked for Love Island assistant producer Kitty Ure to confirm if what she was saying was true.

However, the first case of coronavirus in South Africa was not confirmed until a month after Love Island finished its recent winter series in February – so it’s very unlikely that the star had contracted Covid-19.
