Seems that recent swimming advice is paying off for Ovie Soko after he admitted to his Love Island contestants he can’t swim.

Earlier this week, the basketballer got into the villa’s pool (which was a rare treat for viewers, seeing as the islanders hardly swim) and attempted to do a lap.

Tiring himself out, he gave it his best as everyone chimed in with some welcome points on how to ace his stroke.

Now it seems the advice has given him all kinds of Ovie confidence to jump in the pool willy nilly, as he joined the lads for some pool time larking in new footage straight from Spain.

In a clip shared to the Love Island social media account ahead of tonight’s episode, he can be seen playfully splashing about with the other guys.

Sure the dude is a billion feet tall, but he really doesn’t seem fussed about being in a body of water without the ability to keep himself afloat as he joins the rest of the crew to jump in.

Is this a new Ovie we see before us?

One fan did perhaps fear for Ovie’s safety as they shared a lifesaver gif and wrote: ‘Me jumping in to save Ovie from drowning.’

It comes after Ovie revealed his lack of aquatic prowess to a stunned villa.

‘I’ve been trying to swim, little kids tried to teach me, swimming teachers have tried to teach me,’ he said, as the girls gathered around and incredulously raised their eyebrows at his lack of swim school training.

‘I feel like once I get it, I’ll get it.’

He continued later, as Joanna approached and attempted to teach him breaststroke from the side of the pool (an interesting concept when you’re standing): ‘It’s such a weird thing for a grown up not to be able to swim, since everyone around me knows how to, everyone has their input.

‘It’s actually sort of neat.’

After attempting to do a length of the pristine waters but finding the whole thing a lot more trouble than it’s worth, Ovie said: ‘I’m tired as hell. I don’t know if I want to swim.’

Then narrator Iain Stirling rightly pointed out: ‘There is no deep end deep enough for you.’

He’s not wrong.

Love Island continues 9pm on ITV2.
