Love Island’s Ovie reveals he came close to giving up on romance and felt destined to be Amber’s ‘guardian angel’ before meeting India

OVIE Soko admits he nearly gave up on finding love before India Reynolds entered the villa after resigning himself to be Amber Gill’s “guardian angel”.

The basketball player, 28, had a failed romance with Anna Vakili after the pair hit it off in Casa Amor, eventually losing out to Jordan Hames in the battle for her affections.

He quickly became partnered with Amber in a friendly relationship and looked destined to end the show out of love before Page 3 girl India caught his eye.

In tonight’s show the pair get to know each other better over a candlelit al fresco meal.

Impressed with the set up, he says: “I would say this is a hell of a start to something.”

India says: “I’m so glad you’ve been in the villa the whole time. It’s been an amazing experience but it wouldn’t have been half as good if you hadn’t of been there.

“I came in to meet someone but I didn’t expect to meet someone and get on with them and like them as much as I like you.”

Bashful Ovie struggles with her words, replying: “You know I don’t know how to take compliments!

“At one point, it looked like I wasn’t going to be in a romantic couple at all. I felt like I just had the role of the guardian angel over Amber.

“When I walked into that date, you stood out to me so clear. It really changed the whole experience for me. It’s brightened up my days.”

Viewers are calling for show bosses to let villa favourite Ovie win the show alone.

He has won over the nation since entering the Casa Amour villa and fans are begging for him to be the first solo winner of the show.

While someone called for the star to have his own reality show, saying: “Ovie has had a lucky lucky escape. That man needs to win. Just on his own as a f***ing DON. Give him the 50k and his own reality show on ITVBe thank you. #LoveIsland.”

Celebrity fan Peter Andre agreed, saying: “This guy should win just because… even on his own. He loves the island ? the island loves him, it’s called love island. What more do you want? That’s it I’m done…Ovie and out #ovieforpresident  @oviesoko#loveisland #sodtherules#gentlemandem.”

Earlier this week, fans labelled him a “gentleman” for calmly escorting India out of the firing line during Jordan Hames and Anna Valiki’s heated row.

He walked through the crowd of islanders and offered his hand to India, who found herself stuck in the middle of the screaming match.

As well as his gentlemen ways, his constant funny faces, useful advice to Islander pals and hilarious “message” saying has viewers falling at his feet.

A viewer wrote: “Ovie has the best meme worthy faces! He’s an absolute legend!”

One added: “Unreal television when ovie screams message.”

Other villa favourites include Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea, while Tommy Fury and Molly Mae-Hague are the bookies’ front runners to take home the £50k cash prize.

In a shock double dumping last night, Anna and Jordan were booted from the villa, alongside Chris Taylor and Harley Brash, after receiving the least public votes.

Unfortunately, Love Island rules dictate that only a couple can win the show therefore Ovie can’t triumph on his own.
