Love Island's Mike Boateng didn't get to final 'because of how show edited him'

Love Island‘s finale last night saw Paige Turley and Finn Tapp crowned the winners of the first ever winter series of the ITV2 show.

They reached the final alongside Ched Uzor and Jess Gale, Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman, and Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott.

Original islander Mike Boateng missed out on the big night by just a few days, after he and girlfriend Priscilla Anyabu were eliminated.

And, according to Mike’s brother Andrew, it’s because of the way they were edited.

Andrew shared a photo to his Instagram story featuring the lovebirds and a caption celebrating their return home.

He wrote: “They’re back! Spent some quality time with these two. They’re so close it’s unreal.

“They really tried it with how they edited these two, but the world will soon see how amazing they are.”

Mike shared his own message on Twitter, with a photo of him and Priscilla too.

He wrote: “We’re back! What an amazing journey this has been. I’m actually lost for words at the love you have shown me and my family during my time in the villa. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”

He added: “I also want to thank my girlfriend Priscilla for making this the best experience of my life.

“This is the beginning of a beautiful journey and I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing woman.”

Mike also shared a graphic which showed the number of mentions on Twitter each islander received.

Paige Turley and Finn Tapp ended up winning the winter series and taking home the £50k

He was consistently at the top, racking up tens of thousands of mentions.

The former policeman said: “That many mentions from Love Island. Guess I have a lot of catching up to do on Twitter.”

Love Island will return in the summer for a new series on ITV2.
