Love Island's Lucie almost quit villa as girls 'ganged up on her like in school playground

The Love Island 2019 beauty was voted out of the villa earlier this week by her fellow co-stars.

Since leaving the ITV villa Lucie Donlan has kicked off a new bullying row as she opened up about her time on the show.

The 21-year-old surfer babe from Newquay had viewers worrying for her mental health as fans claimed she was being “bullied” by her female co-stars.

And now Lucie has spoken about it for herself and revealed how she truly feels.

While coupled up with now ex Joe Garratt, the beauty faced backlash from her female islanders for not “spending enough time with them”.

Rows erupted as Joe told Lucie he didn’t want her being friends with the boys anymore and insisted that she should get closer to the girls.

Talking to The Sun, Lucie revealed she nearly walked out of the show following the row as she didn’t want to spend time with the girls.

She told Biz on Sunday: “I did think about quitting. There was one night when I was really upset because the girls had drilled it into Joe that I shouldn’t be spending all this time with Tommy.

“It was like being in a school playground”

“He came to talk to me about it but I was more upset by what they had done. After that, I didn’t really want to speak to them because I felt I couldn’t trust them enough. I thought if I did, they might bitch about me behind my back.

“All I wanted was to have a laugh and try to find a boyfriend. But those girls are not like me. They like drama. It was like being in a school playground. I felt really alone and I didn’t know who I could talk to.”

The blonde bombshell revealed producers told her to sleep on her decision on whether she should leave the villa or not.

But luckily for Lucie, Maura Higgins and Arabella Chi came into the villa who she became particularly close with.

Lucie continued: “Maura and I were inseparable in the villa. I don’t know how I’d have done it without her. We both had a hard time and supported each other.

“When she first came into the villa, she said to me, ‘I realise how they’ve been treating you and I don’t like to see it, so I’m going to back you.’

“Then, when Arabella came in, she told the other girls immediately that she had seen what had been happening between them and me — that they had all ganged up on me.

“They denied it but they obviously realised bad things were being shown on TV. And they didn’t like it, so they backed off after that.”

Love Island continues on ITV2 tonight at 9pm.
