Love Island's Dr Alex George in tears after little girl sends him a sweet card


Former Love Island star Dr Alex George has been left in tears following a sweet gesture from a little girl.

The good doctor, 30 has been busy fighting on the front lines of the NHS as the coronavirus pandemic threatens the UK.

However, Alex has taken time out of his busy schedule to share a moment on social media that left him very emotional.

Sharing an adorable handmade card with a sketch of him by a young girl, Alex described the origins of the gift.

He wrote in the caption to the Instagram post: “This was made by a lovely little girl who wanted to say thank you to NHS staff for their fight against the coronavirus.

“Needless to say I have been sobbing away at how cute this is.”

An emotional Alex signed off with a strong message for the UK as the medical crisis continues.

He concluded: “We are in this together. Lets do this. Thank you little Emma this has made my day x”

Alex’s heroic work as a doctor during the pandemic recently saw his girlfriend Amelia Bath post a tribute to him on Instagram in the form of the couple’s shadows silhouetted on a beach.

Alex has been on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis in the UK

Amelia captioned it: “This afternoon I painted a mirror in the sunshine whilst drinking wine and listening to the Beach Boys.

“Meanwhile, Alex ran around Lewisham hospital treating Covid-19 patients.

“I’m so proud of him and I’m endlessly grateful for all the NHS staff and key workers who are working tirelessly during such uncertain times.”

Alex has been very vocal about the situation and his experience on the crisis since it began and has previously shared his thoughts on parking issues that NHS staff have faced.

Writing on Twitter, Alex commented at the time: “Controversial but maybe this is a good time for hospital car parks to be free for NHS staff? Retweet if you agree.”
