Love Island’s Alexandra Cane slams show’s 2019 line-up: ‘Where the curvy girls at?’

The former Love Islander slammed the programme’s 2019 line-up after it was officially released online yesterday.

Alexandra Cane, 27, appeared on the popular dating show last year, and hoped this year’s contestants would offer bodies of all shapes and sizes.

Love Island came under-fire from viewers and celebrities alike during the 2018 series for failing to show diverse bodies.

And people still aren’t happy.

TV bosses have included a plus-sized beauty in this year’s cast, 28-year-old Anna Vakili, a pharmacist from London.

Despite including Anna in the line-up, many people have insisted the show still hasn’t gone far enough in terms of including more diversity.

Alexandra took to Twitter to vent her frustration, writing: “Where the curvy girls at?”

While many others stated this year’s body diversity line-up “has increased by approximately 2% on last year”.

One wrote: “I find it funny how love island combat the issue of body diversity by casting one ‘plus size’ girl.”

Another chimed in: “News reports that ITV have “answered calls for body diversity” by including a “plus sized contestant” have me a bit baffled when this is what they call “plus sized”?”

A third simply put: “Seen more diversity in a pack of Jelly Babies.”

This year’s series features a whole host of singletons looking for love this summer.

An air hostess, a catering company founder, a surfer, and a scientist will all appeared in the famous villa in a bid to bag a prospective partner.

Love Island returns to ITV2 on June 3.
