The reality star has revealed he secretly suffered poor mental health between the ages of 19 and 21.

Jack, now 27, won last year’s series of the ITV show after partnering up with Dani Dyer.

He spoke out about his mental health battles after 2017 star “Muggy” Mike Thalassitis was found dead in woodland.

Jack told how his illness left him housebound.

He said: “It came sort of out of nowhere and I told my mum and stuff and got signed off from work with it. I was just scared to go out of the house.

“I was worried about things that weren’t happening. I thought I was going mad.”

He added: “I didn’t want to believe that this was happening to me – or why it was happening to me.”

Jack took anti-depressants and had therapy.

Following Mike’s death two weeks ago, Love Island bosses said past stars would be offered more support.

Other contestants have told how they struggled with their sudden rise to fame.

ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall said: “We can do everything we possibly can to look after people and to do our duty of care but you can’t do that forever with an individual.”
