Love Island relationship was 'more of a game' to Greg than Amber

Love Island fans were shocked when it was announced that this year’s winners Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea had split last week.

The pair had seemed to be smitten with each other when on the show.

However, after just a few weeks of the programme ending, it was revealed they had broken up.

Greg, 24, denied at first that he had split with Amber, 22, by text, with the Irish lad saying the split came after a series of phone conversations.

Dr Becky Spelman said their romance was probably “more of a game” to Greg than it was to Amber

However, Amber said on Loose Women this week that he had said “okay bye” after she said she’d have to end things if he didn’t make an effort to visit her in London or Newcastle.

A relationship expert has now said their romance was probably “more of a game” to Greg than it was to Amber.

Dr Becky, We-Vibe’s Relationship Expert exclusively told Daily Star Online: “There may have been a conflict of interest in terms of how the two saw Love Island.

The former couple also had to deal with the long distance between them

“It seems that Amber may have been more inclined to take their relationship seriously while, for Greg, it may have been more of a game from the start.”

Greg also said the long distance was one of the factors responsible for their break up.

Dr Becky said this is often a cause of couples splitting, especially if they’re in the public eye.

She added: “Since the end of the show, we’ve known that the couple has had to deal with a long distance relationship.

“That is not easy at the best of times but imagine having to do it with the eyes of the public on you.

“The strain of all the attention, coupled with the distance between the two, must have been more than their relatively new relationship could cope with.”
