Love Island is flooded with 390 Ofcom complaints as viewers rage after News Splash Challenge causes heartbreak for Paige Turley and Siânnise Fudge

Love Island received 390 Ofcom complaints on Wednesday evening after one of it pivotal games forced two contestants into uncomfortable confrontations with their respective partners.

Viewers tuned in as Islanders took part in the News Splash Challenge, which sees the group given partial tabloid headlines about each other before guessing who they are referring to.

But many accused the show of intentionally baiting the Islanders after one headline suggested Finley Tapp had been tempted to stray during a short stay in Casa Amor, prompting inevitable outrage from villa girlfriend Paige Turley.

Luke Trotman also found himself in hot water after a private revelation about girlfriend Siânnise Fudge came back to haunt him during the challenge.

The Islander had previously told the boys she stripped off during their night in the Hideaway, and she was left stunned after the moment was served up in another bombshell headline.

OfCom has since revealed the game sparked 377 complaints, with a further 13 logged through various other aspects of the show.

In a preview from Thursday evening’s episode of the show,  show favourites Paige and Finn lock horns as they deal with the fall-out from the challenge.

Finn is seen desperately pleading his innocence, while an awkward Luke T is forced to explain why he told his pals intimate details about their night together.

‘I feel like I’ve come back here with my head held high knowing I’ve respected you and I’ve gone about things in a way that I’m proud of,’ Finn pleads.

‘My head wasn’t turned. All I care about is how you feel and how I feel.’

Paige replies: ‘I’ve told you how I feel… The headline, in black and white… what do you want me to take from that?’ Finn says: ‘I understand why you feel like that, but all Casa Amor did is make me realise how much I was into you.’

Meanwhile Luke is forced to backtrack as Siânnise probes him over their time in the Hideaway.

‘I just said we were both naked… I think I just talk too much,’ he says.

Clearly upset, Siânnise replies: ‘The girls asked me what happened and I didn’t say anything because that’s between me and you…

‘I know that you wouldn’t have done that in a malicious way… you probably were excited, the boys were probably egging you on, but that’s a personal thing to me and that’s something I would have rather had stayed between us.’

Love Island continues on Thursday February 13, ITV2 at 9:00pm.
