But Yewande is swapping her lab coat for a swimsuit on Monday when she joins the ITV2 dating show – although she is insisting that her stint in Love Island is only a “gap year”.

The future star explained: “I went to uni when I was 16 and I’ve been in my industry ever since.

“My job will still be there. I definitely want to go back – I’ve been in college for five years so it would be such a waste to throw that all away.”

Yewande used to work 60 hour weeks as an oncology vaccine specialist and added to The Mirror that she signed up to Love Island to “get new experiences and do something different.”

Meanwhile, her future castmate Curtis Pritchard revealed that he won’t be having sex on TV through fear of jeopardising his own career as a professional dancer.

The 23-year-old star told The Sun’s Bizarre column that he is keen to join his famous brother AJ as a pro on BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing.

He shared: “Joining Strictly is an opportunity that I would never turn down.

“I won’t be having sex on TV – that’s a private matter, if somebody does that, that’s what they want to do but it’s not what I would like to do.”

Discussing his famous brother, he added: “AJ is super excited for me joining Love Island, literally over the moon for me.

“As a family we are supportive whatever we do, my parents were supportive of me and want the best for me and want me to do great in it.”

Love Island kicks off on Monday 3rd June at 9pm on ITV2.
