Love Island cast: ‘Immature’ Lucie Donlan is out for ‘Z-list fame’ says former islander after ‘holiday romance’

Ex-Love Island star Charlie Frederick has slammed his ex Lucie Donlan after it was revealed she’s entering the villa this year.

Frederick, who made a brief appearance on the 2018 series, hit out at his former flame’s “intentions” and hinted she is simply looking to boost her Instagram followers.

“[She’s] most definitely not looking for love! She’s only 21” he told the MailOnline. “I hope she’s going in there with the right intentions.

“She’ll get a couple of Instagram followers on the way, if you know what I mean. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do to get the Z-list fame.”

The pair dated last year, shortly after Frederick was booted out of the Love Island villa alongside Hayley Hughes.

“It was a bit of a holiday romance. If you ask me, it was really good, her family were great but it didn’t work out,” Frederick told the publication. “She was too young. We were never in love with each other.”

The reality star explained that he had “called it all off” because she was “a bit immature”, adding: “She wasn’t really for me. We really didn’t know each other that well.”

Lucie, from Newquay, was revealed on Monday as one of the 12 singletons heading into the villa for a summer of love.

Describing herself as “different to the usual girls”, Lucie said: “I stand out. I’m more into sports as well as being glam. I can do both, which makes me stand out compared to other girls. I’m more of a guy’s girl than a girl’s girl.”

But she admitted that her past relationships had been blighted by unfaithfulness because of a “wandering eye”.

“I have cheated in the past because I’ve got on with someone so much better,” Lucie confessed. “It was a few years ago, I wouldn’t do it again.”

Love Island returns to ITV2,  Monday, June 3 at 9pm
