Love Island: Amy's dad Ian 'REFUSED to watch his devastated daughter on the show

Love Island bombshell Amy Hart’s dad Ian stopped watching the show because he found it too ‘upsetting’ to watch his daughter suffer heartache.

The claims emerged as Amy, 26, sensationally quit the ITV2 summer show after she struggled to cope with her heartbreak after she was dumped by Curtis Pritchard, 23.

As the air hostess struggled with her very public break up, Ian, 54, was said to have pulled the plug on his Facebook account and refused to tune into watch the drama unfold on television.

A source told The Sun: ‘Ian’s a normal father who finds it concerning to watch his daughter go through the rigours of Love Island.

‘He can’t bear to read all the upsetting opinions on the internet about her. He has taken down his Facebook account and now refuses to watch the show.

‘Any father would find this sort of thing very tough to watch while powerless to intervene.’

The reality star’s mum and dad tuned in with the rest of the nation to watch Curtis betray his ‘half-girlfriend’ as he said he wanted to pursue things with Jourdan Raine, meanwhile the air hostess declared her love for the dancer in Casa Amor.

During her joint TV interview with her husband on This Morning, Sue said: ‘She’s never had a serious relationship, and in one single day she’s been in love and heartbroken in one day.’

Sue elaborated: ‘The hardest bits to watch have been the last couple of days, I’ve been fast-forwarding Curtis talking to Jourdan.

‘We don’t know who Amy goes for, she’s never brought a man home. They have a lot in common, out of everyone that’s gone in.’

It comes after Amy quit the show and left the villa in scenes that will air on Tuesday.

The air-stewardess told producers she wanted to leave after her ‘half boyfriend’ had his head turned in Casa Amor.

The shock move comes after her co-star Maura was accused of breaking the girl code when she made her move on ‘husband material’ Curtis without talking to Amy.

On Monday night’s show, viewers will see Amy fume at Maura for persuading her  to dump Curtis – as the model prepared to ‘swoop in’ on the single ballroom dancer.

Amy has spent much of the last few episodes in tears after Curtis had said he didn’t want to give their romance another chance.

He said he couldn’t promise that he wouldn’t have his head turned by someone again as he did with Jourdan Riane, while Amy was in Casa Amor.

Curtis’ doubts about Amy came to light last week following his kiss with Jourdan during a beer pong game, with the dancer later revealing that she had turned his head.

Pulling her for a chat, Curtis admitted he feelings for her, telling her that he would recouple with her over Amy.

He told her: ‘You’ve swayed me in a different direction.

‘There clearly is something missing me with and Amy else it wouldn’t have happened. If the recoupling was in half an hour, I’d choose you.’

However, the model and actress was quick to friendzone him and advised that he stayed with Amy and work on their relationship.

She told him: ‘I think what is best in this situation is, I would say to stay loyal to the situation you have now because I need you as a friend.

‘I think it would be the better thing to do.’

At the same time, Amy remained loyal in the casa amor villa and revealed to pal Molly-Mae that she’d fallen in love with the professional dancer, telling her that Curtis was her ‘best friend and boyfriend rolled into one.’

During the last recoupling, Curtis left viewers and his fellow islanders astounded with his speech, in which he revealed that another woman had caught his eye and he realised that he was ‘lying’ to himself over his relationship with the bubbly blonde.

He told the villa: ‘Amy and I haven’t had any tests or bumps in the road at the moment. Things were going fantastic until a couple days ago.

‘Basically, a young lady walked into the villa and made me realise a lot of things. Over the past four days, I’ve found out more about myself and my feelings than ever before.

However, later that evening Amy was crushed when Curtis told her what he had been up to while she was away.

The dancer further twisted the knife in on a separate occasion when she asked for ‘constructive feedback’ so she could avoid getting so hurt in future relationships.

In a brutal blow, after telling her that a ‘weight has been lifted off his shoulders’ following their split, Curtis then went on to say that he never envisioned a future with her.

Fans watching at home slammed Curtis for his treatment of Amy, with many branding him ‘savage’ and ‘nasty’ for delivering such harsh feedback.

On Thursday, Amy was taken off set and offered psychological support after viewers urged producers to step in amid her heartbreak over Curtis’ wandering eye.

Fans had raised concerns for Amy’s mental health after she broke down in tears following the dancer’s betrayal in devastating scenes, with the dramatic recoupling sparking nearly 200 Ofcom complaints.

They told MailOnline: ‘We take the emotional well-being of all the Islanders extremely seriously.

‘We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset.

‘All the Islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on site and by their friends in the villa.

Meanwhile, Maura is set to face the repercussions of her betrayal in Monday’s Love Island, after she decides to tell the girls the truth about her feelings towards the ballroom dancer, 23.

A furious Amy accuses Maura of being dishonest as she questions if the Irish beauty warned her off Curtis so she could swoop in for herself and steal him from under her nose.

Unimpressed: Clearly stung by her betrayal, Anna waspishly hits back: 'Do you not think you should have told Amy?' To which, Maura replies: 'Right now, I don't want to hurt Amy.'

Speaking with Anna Vakili, Molly-Mae Hague and Lucie Donlan on the bean bags, Maura, 28, drops the bombshell: ‘I told Curtis I had feelings for him.’

The ring girl goes on to explain she has had feelings for Curtis since she arrived in the villa, but didn’t want to express how she felt as Curtis and Amy had a strong romantic connection.

To which, Anna waspishly hits back: ‘Do you not think you should have told Amy?’  Maura replies: ‘Right now, I don’t want to hurt Amy.’

Anna reinforces her point that Maura should have spoken with Amy, but the model’s best pal Lucie interjects and explains this is a similar situation to when she told Tommy she had feelings for him.

Taking no nonsense, Anna replies: ‘I’ll tell you straight. You [Lucie] should have told Molly before you told Tommy, and you [Maura] should have told Amy before you told Curtis.

‘If I ended up liking one of your girl’s man, I would go to you first.’

After being given a stern warning about her behaviour and with the girls turning on her, Maura decides it is time to tell Amy about her conversation with Curtis.

‘From day one, I said that he [Curtis] would have been one of the guys I would have gone for,’ she said.

‘I do fancy him. I’m an honest person, I can’t hold back, so I did tell him that I liked him.’

Clearly stung by the betrayal, Amy hits back: ‘But not honest enough to come and tell me first that you were going to do it?’

Trying to deflect the blame, Maura replies: ‘When I came in here, I felt that out of all the girls here, you were the one that wouldn’t let me in.’

Amy says: ‘A lot of stuff makes sense to me now. You were one of the most vocal that he didn’t deserve a second chance.’

Maura replies: ‘If you honestly think that I’ve done that to swoop in, you’re very wrong.’

Just days before the tense showdown, the ring girl was a pillar of support for Amy, who was left devastated to learn Curtis was tempted to break off their romance during her time in Casa Amor.

Fans praised Maura for being ‘the friend everyone needs’ after her ‘brutal honesty’  when she told the air hostess: ‘Babe I’m sorry but you’re better than that and this is a f*****g joke.’

And after Lucie Donlan asked Amy whether she truly loved Curtis, Maura firmly added: ‘Why are you asking her that? Does he love you? It’s harsh babe but I’m serious, he wouldn’t have done that if he did.’

Turning to face her friend the brunette added: ‘Do you honestly think that you deserve this? I’m sorry but seriously?’

But now Amy thinks Maura’s interference was a deliberate ploy to steal her man right from under her nose.

On Sunday night’s main show the Irish native told Curtis she had feelings for him during a heartfelt chat.

And it appears that Maura’s feelings are only intensifying as she revealed to Caroline that she’s had her eye on ‘handsome’ Curtis from the get go on Aftersun.

She said: ‘You know what, I said when I came into the villa in week one, that he was one of the guys that I would have stepped forward for.’

Addressing his messy split with Amy, she continued: ‘He is single now and I know he’s done awful, he has done awful to Amy, but I mean he’s a handsome man. If I like him, I have go for it.’

Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm on Tuesday.

MAURA’S ‘PREDATORY’ BEHAVIOUR

When Irish grid girl Maura walked into the villa, she set her sights firmly on Tommy, despite him being coupled up with Molly-Mae.

But her constant sexual remarks about the boxer left several viewers watching at home very uncomfortable.

However, things escalated as when Maura mounted Tommy as he lay on the sofa and attempted to kiss him several times, with the boxer forced to swerve her numerous advances.

The scene attracted over 700 complains to media regulator Ofcom, with fans branding her ‘desperate’ and ‘predatory’, with many accusing her of ‘sexually harassing Tommy’

SHERIF’S SHOCK EXIT

Viewers were left stunned after it was revealed Sherif Lanre was asked to leave the villa with immediate effect after apparently ‘breaking the rules’.

It later emerged that he was removed for accidentally kicking Molly-Mae in the crutch during a play fight, before later joking that it was a ‘c*** punt’.

Despite Sherif sharing a statement that echoed the one officially declared by the show, he later let rip at show bosses in a series of interviews in which he accused them of ‘double standards’ and also made claims of racism against him.

JOE’S ‘CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR’ OVER LUCIE

When Joe noticed his then partner Lucie’s closeness with best pal Tommy, her pulled her aside and told her he found their friendship ‘strange’ and urged her to get along with the other girls, despite Lucie’s protests that she gets on better with guys.

The sandwich maker’s behaviour sparked a huge backlash on social media, with viewers calling him out over his ‘controlling’ ways. The moment caused over 600 viewers to complain to Ofcom.

Meanwhile, a representative from Women’s Aid said: “Controlling behaviour is never acceptable, and with Love Island viewers complaining to Ofcom in record numbers about Joe’s possessive behaviour towards Lucie, more people are becoming aware of this and want to challenge it.’

DANNY, YEWANDE AND ARABELLA’S LOVE TRIANGLE

Model Danny came under fire in the villa after he dumped scientist Yewande for fellow model Arabella.

Danny had been coupled up with Yewande and things started off well, but their relationship began to cool as Yewande struggled to show affection towards him.

But when bombshell Arabella walked in, his head was immediately turned and he informed his partner that he wanted to get to know the newbie.

However, Yewande telling Danny she was OK with him getting close to Arabella backfired dramatically when she was dumped from the villa in one of the most brutal recouplings of the series.

Her shock exit sparked outrage in the villa, with her pals Amber and Anna clashing with Danny over his choice.

However, Yewande’s parting words to Danny, ‘What goes around comes around’, soon came true as just days later, Arabella was dumped from the villa by the rest of the boys, leaving Danny (temporarily) crushed.

MICHAEL ‘GASLIGHTING AMBER

Things were seemingly going in Amber and Michael’s relationship, so it was a huge shock to the beauty therapist when she returned single from the Casa Amor villa only to discover beau Michael recoupled with new girl Joanna.

Out of order: The awkward exchange led swarms of viewers to accuse the firefighter of ‘gaslighting’ Amber

But when Amber confronted Michael on his decision, he appeared to turn the tables and blame the break-down of the romance on her as he branded her ‘childish’ and pathetic’. He also told how he was forced to ‘bite his tongue’ during their romance and ‘couldn’t be himself’ – despite having never raised these issues with her previously.

The awkward exchange led swarms of viewers to accuse the firefighter of ‘gaslighting’ Amber as he pinned all the blame on her and constantly picked faults in her character.

TOM’S OFFENSIVE COMMENT ABOUT MAURA

After winning a night in the Hideaway with a boy of her choice, Maura immediately picked model Tom, whom she had been courting at the time.

However, shortly before their night alone, she caught him bantering with the boys and overheard him say ‘it’ll be interesting to see if she’s all mouth or not.’

The fiery Ireland native immediately let rip at him for insinuating that sex was on the cards just because she openly talked about sex, telling him to go f*** himself.’

Viewers at home were also outraged by his words, with many branding him ‘disrespectful’ and ‘rude’.
