Love Island 2019: Anton Danyluk and Molly-Mae's 'awkward' showdown blasted by fans

All of this year’s islanders were back on ITV2’s screens tonight for Love Island: The Reunion and even though the series may have ended there was still plenty of drama to discuss.

Caroline Flack was on hand to chat to all of this year’s contestants and she didn’t waste anytime in bringing up some of the headlines that have been hitting the papers.

While chatting to Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan, Caroline asked whether Anton had unfollowed Molly-Mae Hague on Instagram.

Revealing it was true, Anton explained that his management had followed all of the islanders on his account but he had decided to unfollow Molly-Mae when he left the villa.

Denying his decision had anything to do with Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury voting the couple as the least compatible, he said: “In there you have to make hard decisions.”

Revealing the real reason why he unfollowed Molly-Mae, he confessed: “We never even spoke to each other in the villa.”

“I thought we were friends,” Molly-Mae hit back before adding: “We weren’t the closest but I wouldn’t have said we weren’t friends.”

Digging a deeper hole for himself, Anton continued: “I never chose to follow Molly-Mae…”

As the studio saw the funny side of Anton’s comments, Belle jumped in and told Anton to stop talking.

“Are you going to refollow Molly-Mae?” Caroline asked to which Anton replied: “No.”

Viewers watching at home were quick to comment on the “awkward” exchange.

“This Molly and Anton drama is so awkward and weird #LoveIslandReunion #loveisland,” one remarked.

Another added: “Why bring up to Molly how she feels about Anton unfollowing her just drop it just making it more awkward #LoveIslandReunion #LoveIsland.”

Other fans took Molly-Mae’s side and blasted Anton for his decision to unfollow Molly-Mae so quickly.

“I think Anton maybe should’ve left the unfollow button alone for a few months #LoveIslandReunion,” one fan wrote.

A second tweeted: “Deffo on Molly’s side and not Anton’s, Anton was so rude and there was no need to embarrass her  #LoveIslandReunion.”

However some fans defended Anton’s decision and commented he should be able to follow whoever he wants on social media.

One said: “It’s really not that deep. Give it six months people would of been broken up and unfollowing anyway. Anton just got it out the way #LoveIslandReunion.”

Another tweeted: “Anton shouldn’t have to explain himself. Follow and unfollow who you like …. #LoveIslandReunion.”

“I actually see no problem with Anton unfollowing Molly-Mae, Why fake the funk? If you don’t f**k with her, why pretend #loveislandreunion,” a third said.

Love Island 2019 is available to catch up on the ITV hub.
