Louise Redknapp has admitted she still calls Jamie her ‘husband’ two years on from their divorce.
The Eternal singer officially split from the former footballer in January 2018 after 19 years of marriage and two children: Charles, 15, and Beau, 11.
But she confessed that she sometimes ‘forgets’ they’re not together anymore and instinctively refers to him as her ‘husband’.
‘Sometimes now I forget I’m not married. Sometimes I still go, “my husband,”‘ the 45-year-old told Glamour.
The singer added that she’s had a tough time trying to process their split under the public spotlight when everyone had always thought they had the ‘perfect marriage’.
‘Anyone in the industry would probably say I’m the biggest train wreck. I’m completely unorganised and a complete mess,’ Louise said.
The star has channelled her heartbreak into her first album in 15 years, Heavy Love.
She said she’s finally feeling back to herself after years of feeling lost and seeking Jamie’s ‘approval’.
‘I don’t think I was myself 15 years ago. I needed everyone else’s approval. I needed Jamie’s approval, I needed family’s approval,’ Louise said.
It certainly seems like Louise has had a bit of a reawakening (we’re due one of those, actually), seeing as she recently revealed she’s sick of wearing ‘safe’ outfits.
Her sons Charles and Beau aren’t massive fans of her latest risqué ensembles, but guess what?
Lou’s not bothered in the slightest.
She told Classic Pop: ‘When I look at other women doing similar things I don’t judge them. Beyonce is a mum of three. I’d never dream of going: “Look at her, swinging her booty around!”
‘I’m just not prepared to be put in a box. I’ve been in that box for 15 years.’
She went on: ‘I’m gonna take every risk and opportunity I can on this album, and the next one, and even more so on the one after that. I’m sick and tired of being the safe player. I was the safe one in Eternal, I was the safe one after Eternal.’
Yeah! You say it, Louise!
Despite her sons’ resistance to her new look, she was no doubt glad to be reunited with them after they stayed with dad Jamie over Christmas.
