Louise, 45, made the revelation during her socially-distanced gig at Clapham Grand on Friday night, admitting that her musical ambitions came first.

Metro.co.uk reported the former Strictly contestant explained to host Richie Anderson at the event: “I didn’t have a lot of time and a lot of people were investing money into the album.

“To be on Top Of The Tops with that single meant a lot to me.

“Back in the day Top Of The Pops was huge.”

The mother-of-two added: “Top Of The Pops was really important at the time.”

So if things were different fans could have seen Louise starring in the role made famous by British actress Helen Baxendale.

Helen played Emily for 14 episodes for one year from 1997 and ended up in a memorable love triangle with husband Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston).

Louise looked glam in a sparkly black tuxedo suit and stiletto heels as she performed a selection of her songs on stage last night.

The pop star showcased tracks from her latest album Heavy Love and classic Eternal hits.

The Stretch singer released her first record in two decades back in January but her plan to promote her new music at live shows was torpedoed by the coronavirus.

And she clearly excited to get back in front of the crowds, writing on Instagram to reveal the gig: “I’m so excited to announce I will be performing a special one off distanced seated show ‘Heavy Love – Intimate and Live’ performing all your favourites as well as exclusive Q&A session hosted by the wonderful @iamrichieanderson at @thegrandclapham on Friday 2nd October.”
