Louise Redknapp was inundated with comments after sharing a message with her 646,000 Instagram followers yesterday. The Eternal hitmaker spoke about “your presence never mattering”, saying “we all need a little reminder”. The 44-year-old’s fans questioned whether she was referring to her relationship with former husband Jamie Redknapp. The couple, who wed back in 1998 and have two sons, divorced in 2017 after nearly 20 years of marriage.
Louise shared a screenshot of quote from an unknown source and quickly garnered more than 10,000 likes, including one from Strictly Come Dancing co-star Oti Mabuse.
It read: “Today my mom told me, ‘If your absence doesn’t bother them then your presence never mattered to them in the first place,’ and I felt that.”
The mother-of-two captioned it: “We all need a little reminder of this sometimes.”
Fellow users quickly agreed with her, with two stating: “So true… hurts but true,” and: “Wise mummy x.”
A third replied: “You’re such an inspiration Louise! I love and admire how you decided to be authentically you. Life is short grab it by the balls.”
Another reply read; “Omg!!! That’s so true!! Needed to hear this right now! Thanks for sharing x.”(sic)
Meanwhile, others suggested it could be aimed at Jamie: “I wonder what Jamie and your kids think of this?”
Another person wrote: “Is that a dig at Jamie? Bit below the belt,” despite Louise not suggesting she was referring to her own life and experiences.
However, some hit out at the singer: “Not always true, especially after a long relationship.”
“This is really hurtful and untrue. It’s ridden with guilt and not helpful to women or any absent parent… @louiseredknapp,” someone else posted.
Louise and Jamie have remained amicable since going their separate ways after previously confirming they had split.
