Louise Minchin: ‘Pushed over the edge’ BBC Breakfast host’s ’disagreement' with Dan Walker

Louise Minchin, 51, and Dan Walker, 42, rarely have an issue on BBC Breakfast but the pair certainly did not see eye-to-eye on a controversial topic. The pair were joined on the sofa by sports presenter Sally Nugent, 48, as the trio discussed new Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho and his hate of ironing.

Louise admitted she couldn’t believe the football manager was “unable to iron” as Dan outed his co-star for her fixation on ironing “bedsheets”.

“Loads of interesting stories this morning but we’ve been taken away by José Mourinho not being able to iron,” Louise explained.

Sally replied: “It’s the most interesting thing about Jose. It’s not that he doesn’t like ironing it’s just that he can’t iron.”

But it wasn’t long before Dan interjected and revealed he had been in “disagreement” with Louise over her excessive ironing habit.

He asked Sally: “Do you iron tea towels?” before he pointed towards Louise and added: “Because she does.”

The sports presenter admitted she doesn’t iron tea towels which led the BBC host to continue to grill his co-star on her ironing obsession.

He continued: “Bedsheets, duvets, pillowcases, [Louise] irons everything. We’ve been having a disagreement about this for the past hour.”

Louise chuckled: “I pushed him over the edge when I mentioned tea towels.”

One person said: “If people aren’t going to see it, it doesn’t get ironed. Pants, socks, under shirts. However clean bedding doesn’t feel complete if it hasn’t been ironed. Makes them feel crisper.”

Another person commented: “Sorry Dan – with Louise on the bed linen.”

While a third person added: “I iron precisely one thing in my wardrobe, and as a result of it requiring ironing I wear it approximately once a year.”

Their cheeky back and forth comes after Louise took to Instagram today and revealed her colleague had made a return to the breakfast programme today much to her dismay as she admitted the studios had been “nice and quiet” since his departure.

She posted a cheeky message to Instagram ahead of BBC Breakfast being aired.

In view of her 37,400 followers, Louise uploaded a snap alongside her colleague Dan who looked ecstatic to be back at work with his co-star but her facial expression was the complete opposite.

She captioned the post: “Good morning, it was nice and quiet in the studio yesterday, not today @mrdanwalker is back with a vengeance! #BBCBreakfast.”

The presenter has made a tradition of taking snaps of herself and her co-star Dan on the famous BBC red sofa when they’ve finished presenting the show.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6.30am.
