It’s been almost three years since his departure – but Louis van Gaal has admitted he still holds feelings of resentment towards former club Man Utd .
The now 67-year-old took charge of United from 2014-16, leading them to FA Cup success in his second season.
But despite van Gaal having a year left on his contract – which United had insisted on – he was still given the boot at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal had asked for a year less on his deal, so he could complete the promise he made to his mother that he would retire at 65.
And speaking to the BBC , van Gaal confessed he was still angry over the nature of his sacking.

Van Gaal said: “The Glazers [the club’s owners] and Ed Woodward [executive vice-chairman] asked me [to do three years].
“That is why I am still angry with the way they chose to do it. Ed Woodward knew Manchester United would be my last club.”
The former Barcelona and PSV boss brought with him a strong reputation, and had received interest from Tottenham before opting to take up the hot seat at the Red Devils.
United were still in a period of transition, having only had one season without legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm.

Van Gaal acknowledged that Spurs were perhaps the more attractive choice, due to United’s older playing squad.
And despite the FA Cup win, van Gaal could only lead his team to a fifth place finish in the Premier League in his final season, prompting the club to remove him from his post.
Van Gaal has since retired from management, but boasts an impressive CV which includes league title wins in Spain, Holland and Germany.
