Louis Tomlinson has posted a beautiful tribute to his late mother Johannah while sharing a throwback picture of One Direction to celebrate the band’s 10-year anniversary this week.

The pop star’s mum passed away on 9 December, 2016 at the age of 42, after a battle with leukaemia.

And it turns out, the proud parent took the earliest picture of 1D back in 2010, as a fan reminded the world on Twitter this week, quickly catching Louis’ eye.

‘Today (July 23) in 2010, it all began’ said the fan, while posting the picture of the guys during their X Factor days, alongside the captions: ‘#10YearsOfOneDirection#1Decade.’

Alongside it, the fan shared a screen grab of a comment posted by Johannah which read: ‘The funny thing about his photograph is that I went into full mum mode. I had gone to pick up Louis & he rang me around 7.30pm saying “Can’t talk – they have put me in a band” & the line went dead.’

She then added: ‘I waited outside the steps at Wembley Arena to pick him up. When he came out & explained briefly about the band I said let’s gather you all together & take the first ever pic.

‘He was looking around the crowds trying to pick out the boys ha xx.’

Louis has since forged a successful solo career, and is known for songs like Two of Us (Credits: Sara Jaye Weiss/REX)

Responding to the post, Louis said: ‘This made me smile.’

Not only is this all incredibly moving, but it’s also a fascinating insight into the genesis of the biggest pop band of the century so far!

One Direction – comprised of Louis, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik – are known for hits like What Makes You Beautiful and Story of My Life.

Everyone’s been celebrating the boys’ anniversary this week – and that includes Watermelon Sugar singer Harry and X Factor boss Simon Cowell.
