His representative has told The Sun Online the engagement rumours are not true and Louis is not engaged.

The false reports circulated on the Blind Gossip website and upset legions of 1D fans.

A cryptic story on the site read: “Singer and Loyal are engaged… and it looks like the wedding will be happening very soon!”

The couple rekindled their relationship in 2017 and have been stronger than ever since then.

Eleanor and Louis have endured an on/off relationship from the early stages of his career in 2011, but announced their temporary split in March 2015.

The pair reunited in January 2017, shortly after the tragic death of his mother Johannah Deakin.

In a candid interview on Lorraine a few months later, the award-winning singer linked his current romance with the lyrics of his chart-topping song Back To You.

There are some personal things that I relate to and contribute to lyrics. Nice to have something not as directly as relatable to me.’

Sweetly showing his devotion to his girlfriend, Louis said: ‘The relationship with Eleanor is coincidental. But the relationship in the song is intense. Maybe they’re not right for each other. I wouldn’t describe Eleanor as that. She’s ace.’

During the couple’s split, the Miss You hitmaker became a father to son Freddie Reign, two, after a brief fling with Briana Jungwirth.

Gushing over his romance and father duties in November, the Back to You belter told Metro’s Guilty Pleasures: ‘Each relationship is different, but I am very, very lucky and very happy.’

‘Definitely [more kids] at some point. It’s one step at a time. That’s probably what I get most excited about, doing all the family stuff and dad stuff.’

Louis’ outing comes after the tragic passing of his beloved sister Félicité, who died of a suspected heart attack in March, aged just 18.

The death of Félicité is being treated as ‘unexplained’ at this stage but a full post-mortem examination will take place and toxicology tests will be carried out in due course, according to police.
The hitmaker took to Twitter to thank fans for their well wishes to him and his family, he wrote: ‘Just wanted to thank everyone for their lovely words over the past couple of weeks.
‘Back in the studio today to vocal something I wrote a few months ago. Sending you all loads of love.’
