Lorraine Kelly mocked over 'patronising' comment to Jim Carrey during interview

Lorraine Kelly was joined by Hollywood superstar Jim Carrey in the studio this morning, as Jim Carrey appeared on the show to promote his new film.

While they discussed the Sonic the Hedgehog flick, the Scottish TV presenter asked Jim about his relationship with his grandson Jackson Riley Santana, eight.

Lorraine gushed that Jim didn’t look old enough to be a grandfather, as Jim replied: “I’m a good grandad.”

The Mask star admitted he’s left red-faced when Jackson calls him grandpa in front of others, as he said: “It’s a little embarrassing I got to say in public when he’s like GRANDPA!”

He added: “We are buddies, he’s going to be my bodyguard.”

Unfortunately, Lorraine viewers took to social media to complain about her comment concerning Jim’s age, branding it as “patronising”.

Host Lorraine was pleasantly surprised by the Sonic film, saying: “My expectations were quite low when I went to see it cause it’s not for me.”

Jim opened up about his role on the show, playing the goofy character of mad scientist Dr Eggman.

He said: “He represents that childlike innocence and electric play.”

Certain viewers found the comment about Jim’s age a little patronising

Helping to write the script for the film, he added: “Basically everything I say in this movie is something I came up with and dreamt the night before.”

Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
