Lorraine Kelly 'fat shames' GMB's Piers Morgan in as she calls him 'chunky'

Today’s Good Morning Britain saw controversial Piers Morgan taking on fat shaming once again after Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli claimed he wasn’t allowed to say “fat” on the BBC series.

The 54-year-old said that he and his friends point out if one of them is putting on “timber” and that it motivates him to go to the gym or do an extra mile on his Peloton.

However, as soon as Lorraine Kelly mentioned that he had been “chubby”, his smile turned upside down and he tried to shut down the conversation.

Lorraine told him: “You’re not as fat as you used to be, you used to be quite chunky.”

Seemingly seething, Piers said: “Talk about a back-handed compliment. I’d never classify myself as obese.”

Agreeing, but still sticking the knife in, Lorraine added: “No, but you were chubby.”

Referring to her on-air clash with Esther McVey, Piers joked: “I’m getting Lorrained, aren’t I?”

Trying to save the situation, Lorraine went on: “You were pleasantly plump, now you’re much better.”

The conversation on GMB came about after Bruno reportedly asked for a reshoot on Strictly.

According to The Sun, he said: “Oh, I can’t say that any more. You can’t say ‘fat’ on TV.”

A source told the publication: “Bruno is just conscious about offending people.

“It’s the last thing he’d want to do so it’s better just to be safe.”

He went on: “The BBC are incredibly sensitive right now. Obviously, it’s filtering down to its starts.

“The audience didn’t have any issue but accepted it’s the new world we’re living in.”
