Lorraine Kelly: ‘Diana would approve!’ Host defends Meghan Markle ‘getting a hard time'

Lorraine Kelly, 59, has shared her famous sofa with a variety of showbiz guests since 2010 and the ITV favourite has revealed she would certainly like the opportunity to interview Meghan Markle, 37. The Duchess of Sussex – who tied the knot with Prince Harry last year – welcomed her first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor with her husband, in May. Now, the ITV presenter has opened up about Meghan and expressed she believes Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana would have “approved” of the former Suits actress. Speaking to OK! magazine, Lorraine spilled she would take the opportunity to interview the royal, saying: “Yes, I like Meghan.

“She’s getting a hard time but that’s inevitable unfortunately.”

The small-screen star added: “Diana, Princess of Wales would have approved. The two of the would have got on like a house on fire.”

Meanwhile, Lorraine spoke out about being “too thin” as she discussed her youthful appearance.

Speaking to the publication she said: “During my cardigan years I was a size 16 and I wasn’t supposed to be.

“We have models on our show who are a size 16, but they are perfect. I think everybody has a size they’re supposed to be.

“When you’re thinner you don’t look well, and when you’re bigger you don’t feel as good,” she explained.

“I’m meant to be a size 10 to 12. When I was training for the marathon I got too thin and I did not look good,” Lorraine told the publication.

“I didn’t feel good either. It’s all about balance.”

Meanwhile, the Lorraine presenter credited her daughter Rosie with aiding her style choices.

“My daughter Rosie steers me away from frumpiness,” she said.

“I’ve never been a slave to fashion, but I’ve become more confident trying new things over the last few years.”

Lorraine went on to say she wore “crazy things” when she was younger and working at a newspaper.

“When I went into telly I played it very safe because I had to,” she continued. “You don’t want your clothes to take away from the story.

“On the sofa it was big shoulder pads, which were very ageing.

“When people say I look younger now, it’s down to the styling,” she revealed.
