Lori Loughlin’s husband Mossimo Giannulli has been released from prison three weeks early after serving four months, according to reports.

The fashion designer, 57, was serving a five-month sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution for his involvement in the college admissions scandal, and is now said to have been moved to a halfway house.

According to online records obtained by In Touch, Giannullii has been moved to the Long Beach Residential Reentry Management (RRM) field office.

Usually, an inmate would be allowed to leave prison ‘through sign-out procedures for approved activities such as seeking employment, working, counselling, visiting or recreation purposes,’ according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Giannulli had previously filed an emergency motion in January to modify his sentence in order to serve the remainder of it at home after he was placed in solitary confinement amid the coronavirus pandemic.

His attorney, William Trach, said he was forced to isolate and quarantine ‘in a small cell,’ which he rarely left.

Giannulli had been released from solitary confinement on January 13, and was later relocated to a minimum-security camp.

According to his lawyer, his time there took a toll on his ‘mental, physical and emotional well-being’.

However, Giannulli had his request for an early prison release denied at the time.

Variety reported that judge Nathaniel Gorton denied his request because his case did not meet the extraordinary circumstances required for compassionate release.

The judge wrote: ‘Although the Court recognises the danger associated with Covid-19 and the particular risk of transmission in peniterinary facilities, the fear of Covid-19 alone, without more, is insufficient to warrant release.’

Giannulli and his wife Lori Loughlin, 56, were two of the 53 people charged as part of a college admissions scam, organised by Rick Singer.

The couple were accused of paying Singer $500k (£408k) to get their two daughters, one of which being YouTuber Olivia Jade, into the University of Southern California as members of the college rowing team, despite neither of the girls ever rowing before.

The sisters are no longer enrolled at USC.

Giannulli had pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and one court of honest services wire and mail fraud.

As part of his sentence, Giannulli was also required to pay a $250,000 (£225k) fine and serve 250 hours of community service.

Loughlin pleaded guilty to the same charges and also received a $150,000 (£122k) fine and two years probation alongside a prison sentence.

She was also required to perform 150 hours of community service.

The actress, best known for her role as Rebecca Donaldson, or Aunt Becky, in Full House, was released from prison in December 2020 after spending two months inside.

Giannulli and Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade, 21, has since given her side of the story for her parents’ part in the scandal and feel as if she has been mistreated.
