The Loose Women ladies were chatting about the upcoming series of The Crown, when Denise questioned the veracity of the storylines.

The former Coronation Street star claimed that Betty – who played Hotpot Betty in the soap – had told her about seeing a royal in a particularly compromising position.

Denise said: ‘She told me that all the time she was working on Corrie she also kept her London flat which had a roof terrace. And she used to go up to her roof terrace…’

‘My mind is boggling,’ interjected panelist Jane Moore, with Andrew McLean warning: ‘Be really careful what you say now!’

Denise laughed: ‘It’s so funny my producers are going “no names Denzie, no names”,’ before she continued with her tale.

‘She [Betty] used to look over to an opposite roof terrace where a very prominent male member of the royal family used to keep his… concubine, would that be the word?

‘And, they were actually having jiggy jiggy on the roof terrace,’ claimed Denise to a gasping audience.

Making fun of herself, she added: ‘Not that am I one to gossip, I’m just saying… that is according to Hotpot Betty.

‘She had other proof that it was the person. She made it her mission to find out, put it that way.’

In the upcoming series of The Crown, Princess Anne is seen in her lingerie with then boyfriend Andrew Parker Bowles.

Another scene hints the Queen and her horse racing manager Lord Porchester may have been closer than they seemed.

The Crown season 3 has come under fire in recent days after the Queen’s former press secretary slammed it for suggesting the monarch had an affair with Lord Porchester.

The new series of the Crown starts next Sunday on Netflix and will cover the time period from Harold Wilson’s 1964 election as Prime Minister to the Queen’s 1977 silver jubilee.

No way! 'And, they were actually having jiggy jiggy on the roof terrace! 'Not that am I one to gossip, I'm just saying... that is according to Hotpot Betty' claimed Denise
