One of the most notorious sibling relationships in pop music history, Oasis brothers Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher have had their fair share of ups and downs.
Noel, 53, and his younger brother Liam, 47, have major tensions ever since Oasis hit the big time in the 1990s.
The first notable cracks in the relationship between the pair emerged on their first American tour in 1994, where Liam frequently changed the lyrics of Noel’s songs to annoy both his brother and American listeners.
This resulted in a physical clash between the boys and a chair being thrown, prompting Noel to abruptly depart the tour.
Similar anger emerged in 1995 during recording sessions, as Liam invited an entire pub’s worth of people to the studio where the band were working and this considerably riled Noel – so much so that he hit Liam with a cricket bat.

During the same period, the brothers were interviewed by NME but couldn’t refrain from repeatedly telling each other to ‘F*** off” in a rather memorable spat.
The next bust-up came in 1996 as Oasis’ MTV Unplugged performance arrived and Liam pulled out at the last minute but viewed from a VIP box and heckled Noel.
Things appeared to calm down until the time the new millennium came and a tour in Spain saw a drunken altercation occur between the pair.
Noel punched his brother and split his lip open after Liam questioned the paternity of Noel’s child with Meg Matthews, Anais.

This even prompted Noel to briefly depart the band before returning days later.
Liam went on to have what Noel described as a “diva fit” when performing in Japan by acting up and walking off of the stage during the show.
However, the final straw came for Noel in 2009 when he publicly quit the band.
Noel said in a statement that he couldn’t work with Liam for “a day longer”.
The elder Gallagher had said of Liam to NME: “I don’t know who the guy is who’s in these interviews, he seems really cool, because the guy I’ve been in a band with for the last 18 years is a f*****g k***head.”

He later described Liam to Q magazine as “rude, arrogant, intimidating, and lazy.”
“He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup,” added Noel.
Liam went on to sue his older brother for libel but dropped the case after Noel apologised to him.
Noel went on to have a successful solo music career and created a new band – The High-Flying Birds – in 2011.
However, Liam couldn’t shy away from a dig and referred to them on Twitter as the “High-Flying Turds”.
Things seemed to be peaceful for a time, with Oasis fans being hopeful of a reconciliation between the Gallagher brothers.
Noel told Grantland that the pair had never really been close throughout their years in Oasis, but it was likely perceptions of each of their roles in the band that was the real source of contention.

He said: “Maybe he did get cast in the role of the performing fucking monkey by the press, and maybe I got cast as the man behind the curtain.
“Maybe he wanted to be the Wizard of Oz instead of the monkey.
“Maybe if I’d been a little more tolerant of his behavior things would be different. But at some point he had to take responsibility for the fucking words he was saying.
“I have a circle of friends, and he kept saying things that were upsetting to these people. And for years I ignored it, because I thought the band was more important.
“But at some point, I just decided I’d had enough of this. And when things got violent, I left.
“There is no point in being in a fucking violent rock band.”

Hopes of a reunion were dashed further for a time when in 2016 Liam tweeted a photo of Noel with the caption “Potato”.
Many assumed this to be due to Noel’s music collaborations with other music artists.
During the same year, documentary film Supersonic was released about the band and Liam spoke out on the prospects of a reunion at the premiere.
In a pointed jibe, Liam said: “Oh no, Noel won’t be here.
“He’s in one of his really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really big houses. Probably eatin’ tofu while havin’ a face peel, isn’t that right, man of the people?’

The following year, there was renewed hopes of a reunion for the Manchester One Love concert that saw their home city remember the lives lost in the Manchester Arena Bombing.
However, when the reunion failed to materialise, Liam took to Twitter to blame his brother.
Liam tweeted: Manchester, I’d like to apologise for my brothers [sic] absence, last night. very disappointed. stay beautiful, stay safe. LG x”
He continued: “It ain’t about Oasis, it’s about people helping other people and he’s once again shown his true f*****g colours”.

Noel’s own spokesperson explained his absence: “Sadly, Noel will not be at the concert this weekend.
“He’s been out of the country on a longstanding family trip since before the concert was announced and is unable to attend.
“Needless to say he is very supportive of the event and wishes everyone huge success on the day.”
The issue become a sticking point despite Liam wishing Noel a happy 50th birthday the month prior.
He tweeted in May 2017: “Happy 50th rkid stay young LG x”.
Liam also addressed the gulf between the pair when speaking to Radio 1.

He commented: “I’ll speak to him some day. It’s all very sad, but we’ll get over it… I guess it musn’t be nice for my mum…
“If Oasis ever got back together… if they do, they do. If they don’t, they don’t.”
He went on to add his thoughts on what a reunion between the pair would be like.
“So there is unfinished business there, but we’ll see what happens,” added Liam. “In the meantime, we’re two little solo boys doing our little things.”
In fact, Liam repeated the same gesture this year for Noel’s 53rd birthday.

Liam tweeted: “Happy birthday Rkid have a good 1 love you long time LG x”.
The younger brother didn’t get a public response from his brother but he did answer questions from fans about a potential reunion when asked.
He replied simply when asked if he wanted an Oasis reunion: “More than ever.”
It seems that fans will really have to wait and see if the brothers do end up reuniting one day.
