‘Lonely’ Pete Davidson Jokes About Video Games and Living With His Mom – menshealth.com

Pete Davidson might be friends with the likes of Kid Cudi, Timothée Chalamet, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian, but that doesn’t mean he’s above the classic combo of loneliness and video games, he joked during a Thursday appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Davidson seemed to be doing genuinely well in the late-night appearance, after publicly dealing with a number of mental health issues over the last couple of years. He was on the show promoting Mortal Kombat 11, and said he’s be adding the game to the arcade he’s installing in the “basement apartment” of the home he bought together with his mother.

“There’s this guy that I really like to kill in it because he looks like a real douchebag,” the comedian said. “This guy Johnny Cage, he does splits and punches you in the dick. It’s his special move. And he just looks like everybody I grew up with in Staten Island, so I just kill that dude.”

The game also makes him question his own existence at times: “Also, [Cage] has, like, a hot daughter,” he continues. “Which is weird, because I’m lonely and she’s, like, not real. So there’s that in the video game as well: sexual confusion.”

Davidson appeared on the show a day after his girlfriend, actress Kate Beckinsale, did; neither made mention of the other in their respective TV appearances.

He previously called the basement he occupies “the man cave,” but that name has been wholly rejected by comedian John Mulaney — who’s been touring with Davidson — and his wife, Annamarie.

“The Mulaneys told me that if I call it that, they will no longer be my friend,” Davidson said. He’s now taken to calling it “the basement” — emphasis fully on the the, as in The Ohio State University (a la NFL Player introductions on TV).

“It means something. I mean, I don’t like that college. But it’s the ‘the’ that’s important,” he said, sharing a vital tip on how to class a joint — or, say, a basement — up.
