London Kills: 'They wouldn't tell me' Laurie Brett reveals detail bosses kept from her

The BBC series features Hugo Speer, who plays DI David Bradford alongside Sharon Small, who takes on the role of DS Vivienne Cole.

Former EastEnders star Laurie Brett stars in the fourth episode of the five part series where she plays Corinna Richardson, a woman who the team must speak to when two bodies are found.

While each episode has a standalone plot, there is a plot running through the episodes as Bradford’s wife Sarah has gone missing.

Laurie revealed that while she of course knew the outcome for her own episode, those behind-the-scenes wouldn’t tell her what the outcome of the through-plot was.

She explained: “I’ll certainly be recording all the episodes because I want to know how all the through stories end. Because I don’t know, they wouldn’t tell me!”

“I said ‘What happened?’ and they said ‘We can’t tell you!’ So I’m really looking forward to tuning in.”

The performer also detailed what intrigued her about the part of Corinna, who enjoys the company of a male escort, and the script.

The actress divulged: “I was really drawn to the fact that it’s a crime drama thing and the character of Corinna Richardson was just quite different to characters I’ve played in the past and stuff.

“I just was really attracted to how many different ways it takes you before you find out whodunnit kind of thing.

“I found it a really interesting script to take you so many twists and turns within a 45 minute episode and it really snakes along.”

Laurie added: “I find it very intriguing that she was living in that world and using that world.

“Initially when I was told about the character I wouldn’t have seen it but then again that’s real life, isn’t it? Nobody knows what people are doing behind closed doors.”

Laurie went on to heap praise on the core cast for being so welcoming to the guest actors.

She said: “Sharon Small and the cast are so lovely to the guest artists and it was an absolutely lovely job to work on.

“And I got to work with Craig Pickles and Fiona Walton, two directors that I’ve worked with in the past and that was just lovely as well.”

The series first launched outside of the UK on US streaming site Acorn TV.

It was then picked up by the BBC back in April before premiering on Monday this week.

Sue Deeks, BBC’s head of acquisitions said of the programme: “’London Kills’ is a crisp and complex police drama with compelling characters portrayed by a top-notch cast.

“Viewers are in for a treat with this series and we’re really looking forward to showing it on the BBC.”

London Kills continues today at 1.45pm on BBC One.
