Logan Paul blames KSI loss on having a cold: ‘It took away my killer instinct’

Logan Paul has the perfect explanation for his defeat against KSI in their boxing rematch – he’s been suffering from a cold.

The YouTube star suffered a loss in the fierce fight against his British opponent at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday night, with KSI taking the victory from a split decision.

But Logan, 24, says the defeat isn’t a huge surprise to him as he’s been feeling poorly the past few days.

Speaking at a press conference after the fight, Logan told reporters: ‘I think nine out of 10 times I beat JJ. Tonight was the night that one out 10 times. Can you hear my voice? I’m sick. I woke up sick. I’ve been sick for the past three days.

‘First thing I did this morning was sneeze, three times. I’ve been sneezing throughout the whole day.’

The YouTuber recalled how he asked his trainer Shannon Briggs whether he could take Ibuprofen before the fight, but was advised not to as it would ‘mess up’ his heart rate.

Instead, Logan ‘tried to push through it’ and ‘hoped [his] adrenalin would take care of the sickness’.

Explaining how his illness might have affected his performance in the ring, Logan continued: ‘If I’m being honest with you, it took away that killer instinct that I’ve had this whole two months in sparring. That is the worst performance that I’ve had in the last two months.

‘Something changed today. I had a talk with my brother backstage and we got a little emotional, it’s like there’s something in me that has a problem taking it from 99 to 100 and crossing that finishing line in boxing and wanting to hurt the man in the ring.’

Despite months of tension, Logan was a gracious loser and extended the olive branch, stating: ‘ I’ll talk in front of the media and at press conferences all day and say I want to hurt JJ, but let’s be honest, I hope JJ is alive and f***ing well for the rest of his life.

‘I don’t know if I’m that animal, or at least today anyway I wasn’t. He got off the hook.’

Well, that’s a turn up for the books.

KSI, 26, was also gracious in his win and said after the fight: ‘You’re a big man. You made me work today. Thank you for a good fight, bro.’
