We can expect topical costumes every Halloween, even more so in an election year.

And Lizzo’s take on the US presidential election is the one to beat.

The Juice singer has chosen to dress up as the fly that landed on Mike Pence’s head during the vice presidential debate, and we’ve got to admire the creativity.

The 32-year-old revealed her 2020 Halloween costume on Instagram, as she gyrated in front of an image of Vice President Pence’s head.

Wearing a black and blue PVC bodysuit dotted with ‘vote’ badges, Lizzo twerked and stuck up her middle finger, only to turn around and reveal she was wearing fly wings.

The star captioned her video: ‘….aaaaand we just gettin started. #halloween2020’, before showing off her costume in more detail in another post.

Lizzo, real name Melissa Jefferson, wore a pair of holographic eyes on her head to match her paper wings, and superimposed herself onto Pence’s head – captioning the pic: ‘FLYYYYY AF!’

For those not entirely up to date with current affairs memes, during a debate between sitting Vice President Pence and Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris, a fly landed on Pence’s head and refused to budge for two minutes.

The fly upstaged Pence and became the surprise star of the debate, with Pence later admitting he hadn’t realised it was there and he only learned about it when his kids told him post-debate.

The Biden-Harris campaign quickly jumped on the bandwagon, selling fly swatter merch that ‘swats away flies and lies’.

While some people were critical of Lizzo’s political costume, most of her fans were loving the fancy dress choice, with one comment reading: ‘Lizzo for President.’

Lizzo has been very vocal on social media in the run-up to the election, and this week confirmed that she had cast her early vote for Tuesday’s election.

Rocking a US flag top, white booty shorts and sparkling boots, Lizzo twerked along to her super-catchy It’s Time To Vote ditty after casting her ballot.

The star wrote on Instagram: ‘I VOTED. This is my 3rd time voting in my whole life. When you think about how few and far in between that is it really puts things into perspective! I believe this is the beginning of making voting ACCESSIBLE and FAIR so that this country reflects its people.

‘To all my activists, thank you for your constant organizing & service. Let’s get our vote in so we can get back to the good fight for true liberty and justice for ALL. Have YOU voted yet?’

Lizzo is among the many stars who have campaigned for Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris, who are up against sitting President Donald Trump in the race to the White House.

The US presidential election takes place on November 3.
