Liverpool remain the only unbeaten Premier League team this season, and their iconic front three continue to be dominant, with Diogo Jota also being thrown into the mix.

Jurgen Klopp signed Jota from Wolves in 2020, and the Portuguese forward has starred for Liverpool alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, rotating with Roberto Firmino.

Firmino was the first member of Liverpool’s famous front three to reach 30, with Salah and Mane both still 29, and Klopp is quietly going about replacing his attack, with Jota the first long-term addition.

However, Klopp remains focused on another former target, and is convinced Liverpool could sign him.

Klopp is far from a crisis just yet as he still boasts one of the best attacking forces in Europe, and they still have a lot to give, but the concern is that all three will need replacing at a similar time due to their closeness in age.

Jota, 24, has already been brought in to begin the long-term transition, but Klopp continues to keep his eye on Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, who he is convinced would sign for Liverpool.

Dembele, also 24, would solve a huge future issue for Liverpool as Klopp would have two natural replacements already lined up for the future of his sides front line, and the French star could even join the club for free.

The forward’s contract expires next summer, and amid a financial crisis at Barcelona, teamTalk have reported that Barcelona have asked Dembele to take a wage reduction from his current package of £200,000-a-week, which has so far been snubbed.

Ousmane Dembele is a long-term target for Jurgen Klopp

Should Dembele choose not to sign a new deal, the Frenchman could speak to new clubs in January and sign a pre-contract agreement, and Klopp is a long-term admirer of the former Borussia Dortmund star.

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Klopp was convinced he could sign Dembele last summer, and the German could remain patient in an attempt to secure the 24-year-old for free.

Romano reported last summer: “Jurgen Klopp was convinced he could sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona on loan with a buy option.

“There was talks between Barcelona and Liverpool but the player said the same as he said to Manchester United ‘I want to stay, I don’t want to move’.”

However, Dembele has failed to make much of an impact following his £135million move to Barcelona in 2017, and his stance may have changed since the side went into financial troubles.

A deal to move to Liverpool could benefit all parties, although Barca hope that the Frenchman will take a wage reduction and re-sign with the Catalan side.

Dembele could reignite his career at Liverpool, and develop under Klopp instead of stalling his progress under Ronald Koeman, and Barcelona could majorly reduce their wage bill as the club look to re-build following the financial crisis.
