Liverpool's condition for Sancho transfer emerges as Man City 'inflict setback'

For some time now, Liverpool have been rivalling Manchester United for the signature of Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils came closest to signing the 21-year-old last summer, but were priced out of a move as Dortmund demanded £106million for their prized asset.

Things have changed considerably since then, with the Bundesliga club believed to have slashed their asking price for Sancho.

Nonetheless, Liverpool may still struggle to fork out large sums in transfer fees this summer as the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic continues to hit home.

There is, however, believed to be one scenario which would allow them to sign Sancho.

Elsewhere, there are updates on the Reds’ pursuits of Brighton stalwart Yves Bissouma and Fiorentina No.9 Dusan Vlahovic.

Here is Friday’s Liverpool transfer round-up.

Liverpool will only be able to afford a bid for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho on one condition, according to reports.

Sancho, 21, is expected to be available for a fee in the region of £85million this summer, which is markedly lower than Dortmund’s nine-figure asking price last summer.

Nonetheless, the cash-strapped Reds will only be able to stump up such funds if they sell Mohamed Salah.

That’s according to German journalist Raphael Honigstein, who told Sport1 : “I cannot imagine Liverpool, especially since the money for a Sancho transfer is simply not there. A new dynamic could only come into the matter if Mo Salah leaves.”

Meanwhile, there is fresh speculation claiming Salah could leave Anfield this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain believed to be pursuing the Egyptian forward.

Manchester City have decided to move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer, according to the Daily Star .

Etihad chiefs had been weighing up a bid for West Ham vice-captain Declan Rice, but the report claims they will pursue Bissouma instead.

This news comes as a blow to Liverpool and a host of other Premier League sides who have been linked with the Mali international.

Bissouma, 24, has made 32 Premier League appearances this season and is under contract at the Amex for another two years.

Fiorentina’s Vlahovic plan

Fiorentina will table a lucrative new contract for Dusan Vlahovic in a bid to fend off interest in their in-form striker.

That’s according to La Gazzetta dello Sport , which claims the deal will be worth €3million (£2.6m) per season and tie Vlahovic down in Florence until 2025.

The 21-year-old centre-forward has scored 19 goals in 33 Serie A appearances this season and has cemented himself as a regular in the Serbia squad.

His performances this season have attracted interest from Liverpool and a host of other European clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Roma and AC Milan.
