Highly-rated Liverpool youngster Ethan Ennis has completed a move to Manchester United.

16-year-old Ennis broke into Liverpool’s Under-18s last season, scoring three times on their run to the FA Youth Cup final.

The Reds offered the midfielder a scholarship this summer but the youngster has sought to look elsewhere to continue his development.

Ennis reportedly held talks with Chelsea having also visited their Cobham training base but has now confirmed he has signed a deal with Liverpool’s arch-rivals.

‘I am delighted to announce that I have signed for Manchester United,’ Ennis wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of himself posing with the United shirt at Old Trafford.

‘Grateful for this opportunity, can’t wait to get started.’

Among those to welcome him to the club were Marc Jurado and Alejandro Garnacho, two youngsters who joined the United academy from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid respectively last summer.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are now owned a development fee for Ennis.

If the two clubs are unable to come to an agreement, the fee will be decided by a tribunal.

United have also this week tied prolific academy forwards Joe Hugill and Charlie McNeil down to new long-term contracts.

Goalkeeper Paul Woolston has also signed a one-year deal.
