Twitter reaction

Tim: What happens today is almost, ALMOST, irrelevant. Fact that we’ve gone from 25 points to a point behind City in the space of a year shows you how far we’ve progressed. Only hope is if it’s not to be today, then we make next season the one we finally win it.

Daniel: Anything is possible !!! Whatever happens I’m so proud of Liverpool this season … I can’t think of a more consistent and brilliant premier league season in my whole life … hats off … good luck lads!

Garry: Sky Sports all set up at the Brighton ground to film the handing over the trophy to City… to quote Keegan…I’d f****** love it if we beat them!

I’m not sure he used the F word, Garry…

Sub plot…

14:20: Love a good old sub plot. Like the baddie in a hollywood movie this.

Skipper Conor Coady insists Wolves are out to end Liverpool’s title dream – even if it ruins his friendships.

The boyhood Red started his career in the club’s academy but still wants to win at Anfield today.

“There’s no reason we can’t do a job there,” he told the Express & Star. “Every week I look at Liverpool and hope they win.

“I supported them growing up but I’m playing for Wolves now, and no matter who we are playing against, we go there to win and that’s the mentality we’ll all have.

“My mates are all season-ticket holders there and keep saying a few things about it.

“I supported Liverpool growing up but I play for Wolves now. What they’ve done this year has been absolutely incredible, the title race has been amazing.”

Brighton vs Manchester City

14:15: And I suppose you’ll be wanting to see the Manchester City side. It’s pretty self-explanatory aside from Riyad Mahez, who starts ahead of Phil Foden. All-out attack from Pep.

Brighton XI: Ryan, Saltor, Duffy, Dunk, Bernardo, Knockaert, Kayal, Bissouma, Jahanbakhsh, Gross, Murray

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Kompany, Laporte, Zinchenko, Bernardo Silva, Gundogan, Silva, Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling.

Team News – Liverpool

14:10: Jurgen Klopp welcomes back Mohamed Salah, who will surely strengthen his claim to retain the Golden Boot.

The Egyptian, who has 22 Premier League goals, returns to the side after missing the Barcelona game with concussion.

The other change to the starting XI sees Georginio Wijnaldum, who scored twice as a sub against Barca, get back into the team.

Divock Origi continues in the absence of Roberto Firmino while ames Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri drop to the bench.

Team News – Wolves

14:05: Nice and quick from Wolves. Nuno Espírito Santo selects an unchanged side from the victory over Fulham last weekend.

That means all the usual Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves all start.

The starting XI…

14:00: And here it is folks. Liverpool’s final starting XI of the season – could it be the title-winning side?

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Fabinho, Salah, Mane, Origi.

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Milner, Gomez, Sturridge, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri.

Wolves XI: Rui Patricio, Doherty, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Jonny, Moutinho, Neves, Dendoncker, Jota, Jimenez.

Surely there will not be a top four shock?

13:58: A night on from Liverpool’s Champions League heroics, Tottenham produced an equally unthinkable comeback to seal their place in the June finale in Madrid.

Lucas Moura’s hat-trick sealed the last-gasp comeback at Ajax and will mean Spurs line up at the gleaming Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a spring in their step on Sunday.

A top-four finish is all but assured but things would have to go horribly wrong against Everton to give Arsenal any hope. The Gunners, fresh from reaching the Europa League final, would have an eight-goal margin to make up at Burnley.

Programme notes

13:55: Jurgen Klopp has written some words in today’s programme – and they are rather inspiring I must say.

“Whatever happens, we are what we are because we have come together and we have all played a part,” Klopp said. “This is Liverpool now: a powerful collective who looks to live in the moment and embrace the joy of it. Thank you, Anfield – you are special.”

Twitter round-up

Steven: Regardless of how today goes, fully expecting City and Liverpool to have it out between them again next season. Spurs may be up there with shrewd investment, but can’t realistically see United, Arsenal, or Chelsea with their transfer ban, catching them.

Stacey: Praying for a miracle today. Regardless we as fans couldn’t be prouder of Liverpool the team have battled every game and played some football I will never forget. Gonna be some atmosphere today! Let’s do this Red Men.

Paco: No matter what happens after today’s final match of the season, I’ve never been more proud to be a Liverpool supporter. These 20+ years of ups and downs, tears of pain and tears of joy have all led to this and I’ve loved every minute of it.

Afternoon…

13:50: Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League.

How’s the heart rate?

After the most intense title battle for many a year, it comes down to the final weekend. I feel nervous just writing this…

Just one point separates reigning champions Manchester City and second-placed Liverpool heading into what is sure to be a thrilling final set of fixtures if the footballing week is anything to go by.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds secured a jaw-dropping 4-0 win against Barcelona on Tuesday night to reach the Champions League final and Anfield is sure to be abuzz again when Wolves arrive.

The Reds need to win and hope that Brighton can end a tough season on a high against Pep Guardiola’s men. Few expect City to come a cropper on the south coast but stranger things have happened… in the last couple of days alone.

Ready for those line-ups? Standby…
