Liverpool are looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 11 points when they take on Watford at Anfield in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side secured their place in the Champions League last-16 with victory against Salzburg and remain undefeated in the league this season.
For Watford, it will be Nigel Pearson’s first game in charge of the club after Quique Sanchez Flores was fired a fortnight ago.
The Hornets are rooted to the bottom of the table, six points adrift of safety, and urgently need a reverse of fortunes.

Dejan Lovren is a doubt after limping off against Salzburg, meaning Joe Gomez is in line to start, with both Joel Matip and Fabinho still sidelined. Klopp may also take the opportunity to rest part of his attacking trio, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner will also be pushing for starting roles in midfield.
Watford are hit by a string of injuries, with Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Sebastian Prodl and Jose Holebas all ruled out. However, there’s a hope Daryl Janmaat may be able to return from his knee injury, while Craig Dawson could also be available for selection.
Prediction
Watford should summon a strong surge of resilience with it being Pearson’s first match in charge. However, Liverpool are simply operating at too high a level right now for the Hornets and, once the floodgates have opened, should win by a comfortable margin.
