Liverpool transfer round-up: Reds consider Griezmann move, Barca's Thiago swoop

With less than a week until the new Premier League season begins, Liverpool may attempt to ramp up their transfer business.

It has been a subdued window for the champions, who are clearly content with the squad that stormed to the Premier League title last term.

But there is still talk of potential new arrivals before the window shuts in early October. And there may yet be movement on the outgoing front, too.

Here we take a look at all the latest Liverpool transfer rumours.

Antoine Griezmann only joined BArcelona last summer but could be on the move again

Liverpool one of several clubs eyeing Barcelona forward

Liverpool are on “red alert” to sign Barcelona ’s Antoine Griezmann, according to the Daily Mail.

The forward was reportedly told he would become the Blaugrana’s main man if Lionel Messi was sold this summer, but the latter’s change of heart has ended such hopes.

Now Griezmann’s future is in doubt, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal believed to be monitoring his availability.

The 29-year-old had a difficult first season in Catalonia, struggling to establish himself after his £107m move from Atletico Madrid last year.

Griezmann has been linked with Liverpool in the past, and his ability to press from the front – as he did under Diego Simeone – could make him an appealing option for Jurgen Klopp.

Thiago has long been linked with Liverpool

Barcelona could hijack Liverpool’s Thiago pursuit

Barcelona are interested in bringing Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago back to the Camp Nou, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spaniard, who has less than a year left on his Bayern contract, has been repeatedly linked with a switch to Anfield this summer.

More recently, reports have claimed that Manchester United are in the race to sign him. And now Barcelona appear to have thrown their hat in the ring.

The Blaugrana are looking for a new midfielder and there has been talk of a possible move for Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum, who played under Ronald Koeman in the Dutch national team.

Now, though, Barcelona could turn to Thiago, although the 29-year-old has dismissed the recent transfer speculation.

“Every year you put me at a different club,” he said. “For me, my future is tomorrow’s game and there is nothing more to say.

“I neither care nor am I interested. What interests me is tomorrow.”

Reds close in on Brazilian youngster

Liverpool are days away from securing the transfer of Fluminense goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga, according to UOL.

The 17-year-old has a growing reputation in Brazil and is seen as a potential long-term successor to compatriot Alisson Becker.

The intention, UOL report, is to sign the teenager and send him on a series of loans to English clubs.

Fluminense reportedly countered Liverpool’s original offer, but the Premier League champions appear to have reached an agreement.
