Christian Pulisic opens up on life under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea

Liverpool will be looking to build on their 4-0 win over Arsenal when they take on Southampton at Anfield this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s side bounced back well last weekend from their first Premier League defeat of the season against West Ham, but they are still four points behind leaders Chelsea.

While Jurgen Klopp’s focus is currently on a busy period of fixtures, the club also have one eye on the future, with the January transfer looming.

With injuries mounting and Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita all going to the African Cup of Nations in January, Liverpool might need to bring in reinforcements.

Here Mirror Football takes you through the latest transfer rumours surrounding the club.

Liverpool are weighing up a move for Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic in the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

Chelsea only signed Pulisic in the summer of 2019 after striking a £58million deal with Borussia Dortmund in January that year.

The 23-year-old American international has 19 goals and 14 assists in 83 appearances for the club, but has regularly been frustrated by injuries in west London.

The competition for places in Thomas Tuchel’s side is fierce and both Liverpool and Barcelona have therefore reportedly identified Pulisic as a transfer target.

El Nacional claims Chelsea will demand £42m (€50m) for Pulisic, who knows Klopp, having joined Dortmund’s academy while he was manager in early 2015.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to open contract negotiations with Mane’s representatives after growing frustrated with their efforts to tie Salah down to a new deal.

Both of the Liverpool attackers are currently under contract until June 2023 and are a key part of Klopp’s side.

The club have been in discussions with Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa for some time, but are yet to find a financial compromise, with the Egyptian seeking a deal worth in the region of £500,000 a week.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that, while Liverpool have not given up on Salah, they have turned their attention to Mane for now.

The Reds are said to be ‘preparing the first approaches’ to Mane’s representatives having been encouraged by his nine goals and one assist in 16 appearances this season.

Liverpool have been given fresh encouragement that they could sign winger Adama Traore from Wolves in the January transfer window.

The Reds have long been linked with the rapid wide man, but were reportedly put off making a bid in the summer, due to Wolves’ sky-high £50m valuation.

But Football Insider reports that the West Midlands club might be forced to sell if they want to make Hwang Hee-chan’s loan from RB Leipzig permanent.

Wolves can sign the South Korean striker for around £13m in the summer, but need to sell first in order to do so.

Traore is out of contract in June 2023 and Liverpool could therefore pounce for the 25-year-old, who can play across the front line.

Liverpool have reportedly registered their interest once again and are keeping an eye on things.
