Liverpool transfer news: Rangers agree loan deal for Anfield youngster

Sheyi Ojo looks set to move on loan to Rangers as the 21-year-old seeks to gain valuable first-team experience.

Ojo, who has represented England from U16 to U21 levels, has made eight senior appearances for Liverpool , but is yet to establish himself as a regular first-team player, and has been sent out on loan spells to the likes of Wigan, Wolves and Fulham in the past.

Last season he was loaned to French side Reim, where he made 17 appearances but scored just once.

The winger now looks like he will link up with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard north of the border and is expected to meet the squad when they return for pre-season training next week.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping the move is as successful as that of Ryan Kent. The 22-year-old went on loan to Rangers last season and impressed at Ibrox, making 43 appearances in all competitions and was named PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.

It remains to be seen whether Kent will return to Liverpool or move on from the club.

Aston Villa and Leeds have been linked with the player, while Rangers are also thought to be keen to keep him.

Gerrard will be determined to mount a serious title challenge next season after his side fell just short in this campaign.

Rangers ended up finishing nine points behind rivals Celtic in second place, and Gerrard will be hoping they can go one step better next year.

They will also soon be competing in the Europa League qualifying rounds, and will discover their opponents for the first qualifying round on Tuesday.

As well as Ojo and Kent Rangers are monitoring Oldham defender George Edmunson, who they bid £500,000 for.

They are also reportedly in conversations with Charlton midfielder Joe Aribo over a move.
