Liverpool 'to sign Man City physio and Arsenal club doctor' in double swoop

Liverpool have reportedly landed physio Steve Lilley from Manchester City and Arsenal’s club doctor Gary O’Driscoll as the Reds look to stay ahead of their Premier League rivals.

The signing of Lilley is another coup for world and European champions Liverpool after their current head physio Lee Nobes joined them from City just over a year ago.

Lilley joined City from Norwich in 2011, and two years later was promoted to first-team duties at the Etihad.

He worked closely with Nobes, and will now be reunited with him as he is set to join Liverpool next month, according to Training Ground Guru .

The publication also reports that Arsenal’s O’Driscoll has been hired by Liverpool to replace Andy Massey as head of medical services at Melwood.

Massey is leaving Liverpool after six-and-a-half years to become director of medical at FIFA.

And first-team physio Richie Partridge is leaving next month after nine seasons with Liverpool, to take a job with the Qatar national team.

The exits of Massey and Partridge for jobs on the international stage indicate how highly regarded the work of Liverpool’s medical department has become.

And the fact that the Reds are continuing to recruit from Premier League rivals such as City and Arsenal is evidence of the club’s increasing pulling power.
