Liverpool tipped to beat Chelsea and Man Utd to Jadon Sancho transfer

Liverpool should beat both Chelsea and Manchester United to the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, says former Blues defender Jason Cundy. Reports from Sky Germany on Wednesday say Sancho will leave Dortmund in the summer. Both Chelsea and United are interested in signing the England international, who is likely to cost in excess of £100million.

But Cundy believes Liverpool should emphasise their dominance on English football by pipping their rivals to the 19-year-old.

Liverpool are currently 22 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and are the reigning Champions League holders.

“If you were in charge of Liverpool you would say, ‘we are on top of that tree now, let’s go and get the very, very best’,” Cundy said on talkSPORT.

“This kid is going to be up there for, what, the next decade, that’s the sort of signing that keeps Liverpool right where they are.

Meanwhile, Bundesliga commentator Kevin Hatchard is confident Sancho will leave Dortmund in the summer but thinks he may cost upwards of £118m (€140m).

“Even though he enjoys playing alongside Marco Reus, and Erling Braut Haaland has gone there and they’ve struck up a relationship already – they seem to get on pretty well on and off the pitch – I do think he’ll move,” Hatchard said on talkSPORT.

“The finances for Dortmund make sense; we’ve seen them do that with Ousmane Dembele, they will sell players on if they get the right price for them.
