Mohamed Salah has undergone tests to determine if he suffered concussion during the victory over Newcastle at the weekend.
The Liverpool star is a doubt for the Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona on Tuesday, as the club awaits the results of the tests.
Salah collided with Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka during the game and was stretchered off the pitch after receiving treatment.
Dubravka revealed he thought Salah might have been unconscious for several seconds because he did not answer Fabian Schar when the Newcastle defender checked to see if he was okay.
‘I don’t know if he was out for five or six seconds. Fabian asked him if he was all right and he didn’t answer him, so in that moment we were a little bit scared if he was OK,’ said Dubravka.
‘But after one minute, he responded. I felt sorry for him but I was just focused on the ball.
‘Sometimes you can’t watch everything. I didn’t hit him with my hand, I didn’t punch him. It might have been my hip.
‘I wasn’t sure if it was me or someone else. But I went to him to say sorry. I wasn’t trying to injure him. I’m not that kind of guy.’
Salah flew home to Liverpool with the rest of the squad and spent the night at home.
While the Liverpool team had their normal warm down session on Sunday, Salah visited the club doctor and underwent tests, according to the Daily Mail.
If Salah has suffered concussion, then the forward will miss the game against Barcelona and will not be able to train until Saturday.
That would cast major doubt over Salah’s involvement for the rest of the season, as Liverpool’s final match is against Wolves on Sunday.
