Liverpool star Mohamed Salah LEAKS PFA Player of the Year award winner

Express Sport revealed earlier this week that Van Dijk is poised to pip Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling to the accolade on Sunday night.

And Salah has jumped the gun ahead of the official announcement, taking to Twitter to congratulate his Anfield co-star.

“Congrats big man. Well deserved! PFA player of the year,” wrote Salah, followed by a flexing arm emoji and with a picture of himself with Van Dijk attached.

Salah won the PFA Player of the Year award himself in 2018 having enjoyed a staggering debut season under Jurgen Klopp on Anfield.

Many Liverpool fans believe a win for Van Dijk this time around would be just-deserved given the Dutchman’s form over the course of the 2018/19 campaign.

Van Dijk has been an ever present in Liverpool’s 36 Premier League fixtures as they have gone toe-to-toe with City for the title.

The 27-year-old has also helped guide Klopp’s men to the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Barcelona.

Van Dijk’s performances at the heart of Liverpool’s backline have seen him hailed as one of the best defenders on the planet.
