James Milner expects Manchester United to produce an emphatic response following Sunday’s calamitous display against Everton.
After an impressive start to his tenure, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has presided over a run of six defeats in eight matches culminating in Sunday’s 4-0 hammering at Goodison Park.
Solskjaer insists tonight’s Manchester derby represents the ideal fixture to bounce back in, even if a positive result would hand fierce rivals a significant advantage in the race for the Premier League title.
Only three points will at Old Trafford will be enough to return City to the summit but Milner expects his former side won’t have it all their own way despite United’s current struggles.
‘I won’t watch it but obviously you need to know what’s happened in the game,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘And obviously the result has a bit impact on us but I’m sure it’ll be an exciting game.
‘Man Utd aren’t having the best of times at the moment but after the result the other day I’m sure they will want to respond to that.
‘It’ll be an interesting game but not one I’ll watch. I think from our side we just want to concentrate on our business which is what we can control.
‘From a fans point of view an knowing what a big club Man United are you expect them to respond.
‘Manchester derbies are always special, I’ve been lucky enought to play in a few and I’m sure it’ll be a great atmosphere.’
