LIVERPOOL have matched bitter rivals Manchester United’s best-ever Premier League points total – and they’ve still got two games to play.

The Reds battered already-relegated Huddersfield 5-0 on Friday night to jump up to 91 points.

That feat was managed just once by United – under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson in the 1999-2000 season.

Fergie’s Red Devils went on to win the league by a monster 18 points – finishing above Arsenal, Leeds and Liverpool.

Back to the present day and Liverpool‘s sensational season is still nowhere near over.

With two games to play the Reds still might not win the league – even if they win both of their remaining games.

STILL NOT ENOUGH?

Jurgen Klopp and Co still have to face Newcastle and Wolves and could yet finish on 97 points.

However, title-rivals Manchester City have three games to play and could in theory finish on 98 points in a simply ridiculous season.

Liverpool have lost just ONCE all year, with City even losing four – as the Reds are left to pay the price for a number of disappointing draws.

Klopp’s fearsome front-three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino – as well as the solid defence marshalled by Virgil van Dijk – have also seen the Reds’ goal difference shoot up to +64.

In the 1999-2000 season, when United reached 91 points, they mustered just a +52 return.

If nothing else, the fact Liverpool may still not win the league is surely a testament to City’s incredible form.

City, meanwhile, already hold a 25-point lead over rivals United in the league – their biggest-ever winning margin.
