Liverpool have launched an investigation into an alleged incident between Wolves defender Jonny Otto and a ball boy during their 1-0 win on Sunday.

Sadio Mane’s header split the two sides in a bad-tempered clash, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side left raging after two controversial VAR decisions went against them.

And wing-back Jonny could find himself in hot water after allegedly coming into contact with a ball boy when trying to retrieve a ball in front of the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand, prompting Liverpool to launch an investigation.

The statment read: ‘The club is aware of the incident and will follow established protocols in terms of gathering the relevant information.

‘While that process takes place we will be making no further comment.’

Jonny was involved in one of the two controversial VAR incidents.

He was adjudged to be offside by the smallest of margins as Wolves thought they had equalised through Pedro Neto.

Mane’s opener could easily have been ruled out, too. Virgil van Dijk clearly handled in the build-up but officials decided to award the goal.
